Fire & Safety Training – Types of Knots

Knot is used to tie or fastening formed by flexible lines for purpose of lifting binding pulling or securing objects.

Types of knots & their use in emergency

1. Bowline – It is utilized for rescue. It doesn’t slip or jam.
2. Eight knot – It is used as “stopper knot”
3. Reef knot – It is used to take any load of top of building.
4. Chair knot – It is used for casualty or stretcher support, one loop support the arm and chest while other loop support legs.

5. Cat’s paw – It is used for connecting a rope to an object.
6. Clove hitch – It is mostly used as crossing knot and can be used as binding knot.
7. Sheet bend – When two lines of unequal thickness have to be joined a sheet bend to be used.

5. Half hitch

8. Backet bend
9. Cats paw
